That driver attempting the ram maneuver a few days ago was a scruffy guy in an aging red Nissan pickup. The person in front had offended him by pulling onto I-95 quite a few car lengths ahead of him and at highway speed--which is 55 mph. The red truck passed after looming large in the other guy's rearview mirror and the driver flipped the "bird" as he charged away at 70.
Kudos to him, however, for taking the time to learn Maine Sign Language, that language art that most often uses only one or two fingers but says so much. And, he was able to do it all while picking his nose. Way to go, Scruffy.
He was outdone, however, some months before by a passenger in another vehicle. She, too, was offended by someone (me) pulling onto I-95 in front of her car. Imagine that. Someone might get "there" before she did. Immediately after pulling onto the highway, she could be seen, hands flailing in a gesture of disgust. Her driver, probably her daughter or granddaughter, passed and the old lady's mouth was moving nearly as fast as the car as she glared at me. I flipped her the "bird." Now she was really offended. My passenger was embarrassed. I was exhilarated.
The mother-grandmother car continued in the passing lane for two miles to the next exit. They must have been watching my car because they almost missed their exit but were able to get onto it by cutting off the car next to them and driving in the white-striped portion of pavement that indicates you have made a serious blunder and may engage the guardrail at any moment. No such luck, but I am certain the other driver was as impressed as I was at their prowess behind the wheel and may have expressed his approval with fingers and horn.

The bigger you are, the more right of way you have.
And nevermind those red traffic lights. When you drive a city bus, who's going to stop you?
A few months ago, as I patiently waited at the light on the I-95 north exit and Hogan Road, I watched as the light changed to green (for me) and a BAT bus cruised right through the red light.
At the wheel was a blonde woman, so I assumed it was just a "blonde moment."
When you are the biggest thing on your particular piece of road, I guess you can do pretty much whatever you wish.
